Since 2008 the student group at Westwood College-who named themselves VISON-has been having weekly meetings focused on building community at the school and planning events. Events include tours at local print facilities, “how to” work shops and a lecture series entitled “notes from the trenches” [in which alumni come back to pass on advice to the next generation of designers]. The group also developed and held the first StimuLatté event here in Los Angeles. StimuLatté is a monthly networking event open to all LA Area Student groups and held at local coffee houses, hosted by a different student group each month. The group also actively participates in local AIGA Los Angeles chapter events.
