Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting Brand Management in the development of assigned package design. This includes the communication of marketing objectives and concerns to design agencies, providing creative direction and supporting design mandatories, and coordination of all pre-press activities. AssetLink's point person for assigned Brands. Co-ordinate and Manage Brand Standards, 3D images updates in required websites. Support and provide direction for AssetLink.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervise a variety of packaging design projects for assigned brands.
~ Review design briefs to ensure all information is clear and complete.
~ Create timelines that adhere to the targeted (overall) schedule. Confirm and track dates on-going. Advise appropriate parties of any change.
~ Review estimates, project proposals against rate chart and with Brand Manager, brief designer.
~ Review design concepts; provide input to design firms.
~ Ensure well-coordinated and communicated presentations to Marketing.
~ Provide appropriate meeting follow-up and summaries; provide project status to Marketing Manager.
~ Approve estimates and oversee the purchase order process; track design budgets.
~ Provide evaluation of designer performance.
2. Coordinate all aspects of pre-production and art release.
~ Ensure that all elements necessary for mechanical art are available and correct.
~ Chair pre-production meeting(s) with separator, designer, printer, etc.
~ Provide clear pre-production notes.
~ Evaluate final mechanical art and supervise approval process.
~ Ensure that mechanical art is released and copies are sent to appropriate parties via AssetLink and email.
3. Purchase and coordinate the necessary pre-press materials (proofs) for each project; serve as liaison between vendors and marketing.
~ Review and evaluate estimates.
~ Evaluate and critique proofs; establish targets; present (as necessary) to Marketing.
~ Supervise print production (attend press runs) as necessary.
~ Establish and approve color standards.
~ Keep track of/file all artwork.
~ Catalog final file from Separator in AssetLink.
~ Approve estimates and oversee the purchase order process of the pre-press invoices; track budgets.
~ Provide evaluation of vendor performance.
4. Promote and support innovative ideas that pertain to all aspects of Package Design.
~ Create new ways to manage multiple projects more efficiently and effectively.
~ Explore ways to save money without compromising quality.
~ Explore and recommend new technologies and new ways to innovate.
~ Explore ways to reduce timelines.
5. Participate in and support Departmental and Nestle team projects.
EXPERIENCE:
~ Minimum 5 years related work experience in the packaging/graphics field (with emphasis on packaging design from conception to production).
~ College degree in graphic design, art or related field preferred.
SKILLS:
~ Creative and Design background with ability to supervise photo shoots and photo retouching.
~ Ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet tight deadlines and have the ability to shift priorities as the business dictates. In addition, must have excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Attention to detail is essential.
~ Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management (internally and externally) with a high level of professional diplomacy and decorum.
~ Solid presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.
~ Ability to negotiate pricing/timelines with customers and vendors.
