AIGA/LA and UCLA Extension Presents Graphic Design Exhibition of Seventeen Years of Award-Winning Covers
Los Angeles, CA (April 15, 2007) – AIGA/LA, the professional association for design, and UCLA Extension will present “Masters of Graphic Design: Catalog Covers of UCLA Extension (1990-2007), showcasing the work of the world’s most prominent designers who have graced coffee tables and art book collections with their intriguing interpretations of UCLA Extension catalog themes.
The exhibit runs from June 11 through August 31 and includes the Summer 2007 catalog cover that pays artful tribute to UCLA Extension’s 90th anniversary celebration. Since its 2004 New York debut, the collection has added more than a dozen new covers from a range of graphic designers, many of whom are based in Los Angeles.
The cover art exhibition is the realization of a vision that began in 1990 when UCLA Extension first presented catalog covers executed by world-renowned graphic artists. The series has won more than 70 national and international awards.
Over the years, the master designer cover series has been led and developed by UCLA Extension’s longtime creative director, InJu Sturgeon. “We were looking for a dynamic way to communicate the scope of our continuing education programs, said Ms. Sturgeon. “Being able to assemble this collection of wonderfully designed covers is truly my proudest achievement.
