One-Day Marketplace Showcases Hand-Made Products from Local Designers in Support of the AIGA Scholarship Fund

Los Angeles, CA (July 23, 2007)—AIGA/LA, the professional association for design, together with Santee Village Lofts, is proud to host Craftivism, an outdoor marketplace bringing activism together with crafts. This one-day crafts fair is open to the public and will feature local designers showcasing unique products, contemporary artwork and one-of-a-kind design gifts for sale. All ticket sales will benefit the AIGA Scholarship Fund, which supports emerging design talent in Los Angeles. Craftivism will be held in the courtyard of the Santee Village Downtown Lofts in the heart of LA’s lively fashion district on Sunday, August 12 from 1:00PM-5:00PM.

Tickets: $10 pre-sale and at the door for AIGA members and non-members; pre-sale ticket holders will be entered in a raffle to win a door prize. To purchase tickets, call (818) 558–3968, or visit www.aigalosangeles.org.

Vendors include letterpress paper goods from Fourteen Sisters and Clementine Press, hipster redneck accessories from The Trucker Boy, artwork from Uncommon Industries, sustainable jewelry from Alex and Ani, “live� silkscreening from To Die For clothing, and hand-painted stationery from Quill Avenue Studios. Additional vendors include Feel the Sweet Life, Don’t Stop Studio, Jillian Specter, Lyn Mayer, Abigail Schwartz, Denise Brown, Andria Regan, and many more.

Admission to the event includes two drink tickets for the no-host bar, with additional tickets available for sale, and food served by local vendors. Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ collective Droog. In addition to shopping and mingling, Craftivism attendees can sign up for guided tours of lofts available for sale at Santee Village and, upon completion of the tour, will be entered into prize drawings and be provided with additional drink tickets.
