Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles (APALA) Holds “Back in Black 28th Annual Print Production and Traffic Achievement Awards Banquet

The Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles (APALA) held its 28th Annual Achievement Awards Banquet on Friday, June 2, at the Ritz Carlton, Marina Del Rey Hotel, with a Rock and Roll “Back in Black theme. Every year the APALA gives out several awards honoring well-respected members of the Graphic Arts industry, including the Print Production Achievement Award, recognizing one production person as one of the best in their trade. The APALA also gives a Traffic Manager of the Year award to one individual considered among the best in the field of Advertising Traffic Management.

Andrew Edelstein of Project Design Studio, was given the Production Achievement Award, but he was one of three finalists for that award. The other finalists were Kristy Davis from Rubin Postaer and Associates (RPA) and Truda Kinniburgh from the Designory. The Traffic Achievement Award went to Deane Reynolds from The Hibbert Group.

Sally Toth of Kodak was the recipient of this year’s President’s Award, given by Eva Quan, the reigning APALA President. This award is given to one person who the current president feels has made extraordinary accomplishments.

A Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Christine Donohoe Director of Print Services from TBWA/Chiat/Day. This award pays respect to Christine’s dedication to her craft and the 23 years she has spent as a driving force at the venerable ad agency.

Nan Faessler from Kirk, Nationwide Papers, xpedx took home the Industry Spirit Award, a recognition for her tireless cheerleading for both the print industry and the APALA. Nan has also been recognized as an AIGA Fellow, and is a Senior Advisor for Life to the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIGA.

The Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles (APALA) is organized to promote the interests of the Print Production, Traffic Management and Digital Studio communities in Los Angeles.
