CHANGING IDENTITIES: DESIGN AS CHANGE AGENT

Los Angeles, California (April 12, 2004) — The AIGA Los Angeles Chapter presents Changing Identities: Design as Change Agent, with speakers Margaret Youngblood of Landor Associates and Keith Yamashita of Stone Yamashita Partners. The event will be held at Pacific Design Center, April 28 in the SilverScreen Theatre.

An organization’s identity is one of its most valuable assets and powerful tools. Advanced skill sets are required for designers to deliver value in the process of not only crafting identities but also contributing to their enduring, far-reaching influence. The basis for this discussion is, “How can design be the effective agent for change?” Considerations for the design process include identifying opportunities, scope, decision-making criteria, implementation tools and strategies, communicating the process to
stakeholders, and most importantly, knowing how to measure success.

Come listen as two of the best in the field share their experiences navigating the waters of identity and branding. They will be sharing
behind-the-scenes stories. This program has been created for designers and clients, in large and small organizations. Bring your concerns and questions with you as a lively Q&A will be a featured segment of the program.

Doors will open at 6:30 and the presentation will begin at 7:30. The Silver Screen Auditorium at Pacific Design Center is located at 8687 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Parking is available in the Pacific Design Center’s parking structure for $6. Limited street parking is available.

The event is $15 for members, $10 for student members, $30 for non-members, and $20 for student non-members. Design clients are encouraged to attend for $15. Preregister at www.aigalosangles.org, or call (818)558-3968. There is a surcharge of $10 per admission at the door.

The association is committed to stimulating thinking about design through the exchange of ideas and information, the encouragement of critical analysis and research, and the advancement of education and ethical practice.
