AIGA LOS ANGELES PRESENTS AN ART EXHIBITION,
ART/DESIGN/LA
Los Angeles, California (October 29, 2003) Where does design end and fine art begin? This question will be explored at ART/DESIGN/LA, an art exhibition presented by the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). This exhibition of artwork was produced by LA’s creative community and judged by professionals from the city’s most esteemed museums. To qualify for the show, the artwork could not have been previously published or exhibited. The exhibition will be on display in Harold’s Gallery at INSYNC MEDIA at 550 North Oak Street in Inglewood. The opening night party is November 20, 2003 from 6:30pm to 10pm and will be catered by Angeli Caffe with music by Tom Schnabel from KCRW’s Café L.A. Artwork will be on sale.
The show was juried by Ruth Bloom, The Museum of Contemporary Art; Wesley Jessup, Pasadena Museum of California Art; Elsa Longhauser, Santa Monica Museum of Art; Lynn Zelavansky, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and curated by Brooke Hodge from The Museum of Contemporary Art.
Included in the show will be work by: Kim Baer, Tim Bradley, Larry Brooks, Michael Bryan, Craig Butler, Scott Chambliss, Daniel Chang, Edward Chen, Seana Corcoran, James Cross, Spencer Cross, Snow Dowd, Rod Dyer, Ann Field, Stephanie Flack, Danielle Foushée, Sarajo Frieden, Stÿn Ghÿsen, Marie Astrid Gonzalez, Peter Greco, Catherine Guiral de Trenqualye, Mick Hicks, David Hodgins, Karen Knecht, Melody La Montia, Ronald J. Llanos, Lida Lowrey, Larry Lytle, Pete McArthur, P. Lyn Middleton, Catherine E. Money, Robert Moon, Shahla Amir-Jahed Nattagh, Jayme Odgers, Tim Palen, Michael Powers, Joseph Rafferty, Jill Vacarra, and Glen Wexler.
The event is $15 for members, $25 for non-members, $10 for student members and $15 for student non-members. All prices have a $10 surcharge at the door. Free parking is provided at INSYNC MEDIA, 550 North Oak Street, Inglewood, CA 90302. The event runs from November 20, 2003 through January 2, 2004.
The purpose of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) is to set the national agenda for the role of design in its economic, social, political and cultural contexts. AIGA serves as a hub of thought-leadership and activity for the designing community. The association is committed to stimulating thinking about design through the exchange of ideas and information, the encouragement of critical analysis and research, and the advancement of education and ethical practice.
