THIS IS PROF. BOSTON'S FINAL LECTURE AFTER TEACHING FOR 33 YEARS IN THE
GRAPHIC DESIGN PROGRAM IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ART.

Brief Bio
Archie Boston served 2 terms as president of the Art Directors Club of Los Angeles, one of 35 design pioneers named by Graphic Design USA magazine, and honored as Outstanding Professor of the Year in 2004 at California State University Long Beach, where he has taught for over 33 years. He published his memoir, Fly in the Buttermilk in 2001, created historical documentaries on 20 Outstanding Los Angeles Designers, in 1986, and is the first African American recipient of the prestigious AIGA Fellows Award. His new book, Lil’ Colored Rascals in the Sunshine City, is about his fun filled childhood growing up in the segregated Colored section of the “Sunshine City”, Saint Petersburg, Florida.
