Graphic Designers, Typophiles, Book artists, paper lovers and printers: Join the Los Angeles Printers Fair at the International Printing Museum on Saturday, August 29, from 8 am to 4 pm. Central to this day long event will be the Letterpress Swap Meet where you will have a chance to buy everything and anything you might need for your printing shop. Surplus machines, supplies and type from the Printing Museum's vast warehouse will be on sale, including platen presses, table top presses, proof presses, Washington Hand Presses, paper cutters, slug cutters, furniture and reglets, quoins, tympan paper, wood type, metal type, type cabinets, mitering machines, Ludlows, decorative type borders, ornaments, cuts and engravings.
Gallery tours and demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day, including letterpress printing on hand presses, printing on the "Seven Pounds" Windmill Press, printmaking, book arts activities and more in the Museum's Book Arts Institute. And don't miss renowned-papermaker Helen Hiebert's handmade paper sculptures in our new Book Arts Institute Gallery.
Vendors are welcome and encouraged to come as well to sell their surplus equipment, prints, cards, ephemera, posters, calligraphy, paper and any other related items. Tables (or ground space) are available for $25. Go to the Vendors page for more.
