Meet, Greet and Speak. Easy!

It's your turn to say something, and what better setting than at AIGA/LA's Speakeasy. Join president Michael Lejeune and board members to celebrate the chapter's 25th anniversary and participate in AIGA history. We're honoring the occasion by launching a year-long celebration with an opportunity to meet the board, voice your opinion and participate in your chapter. We will also be announcing the 2009 Fellows award recipients.

As part of our 25th Anniversary, we will be producing a series of limited run, commemorative designer T-shirts that will be distributed throughout the year. The first 100 online registrants for this event will receive the first shirt in the series, designed by Gary Baseman, compliments of AIGA/LA. There will also be shirts for sale at the event so register early and reserve your free shirt now! You must attend this event to receive your shirt, or we'll just give it to another deserving member.

What's a "meet-the-board" event without a party, right? We'll follow this session with cocktails, refreshments and a live DJ - all in the very stylish, award-winning and LEED CI Gold-certified Haworth furniture showroom in the Water Garden, Santa Monica.

Parking
We have arranged for free parking in the underground garage at the Water Garden. The regular rate here would be $26 and we think that's a bit steep. We suggest you get there early. There is also parking on the street.

Go Metro to Haworth Showroom
Metro Local line 4 and Big Blue Bus lines 1 and 10 stop just three blocks from Haworth. And Big Blue Bus lines 5 and 44 deliver you to Haworth's door.

Nice Anniversary Logo!

Reminiscent of swimming pools that
Dot the LA aerialscape from the Plane
Pulling out of LAx.

So refreshing...
See you there....
Chillin'.

Nice 'n Easy, La, La, La...

The highlight last night was the variety of ideas that came out of the Q & A. These ideas show how unique our members are and how much more we can all exchange about both our professional aspirations and our daily work.

Here are some of the ideas I heard. If anyone wants to take their idea further, please email me at ann@aigalosangels.org.

* a mentorship program to support careers at every level

* events that create more interaction: labs/seminars/roundtables

* a place where designers can share/show their work

Thanks everyone!
Ann

This was my first AIGA event and it's safe to say it will not be my last! The energy and ideas in the room were impressive, dissenting voices were given fair treatment. I was given a very warm welcome by all the AIGA board members present and look forward to becoming more involved in the coming months.

I want to heartily thank everyone who attended Speakeasy last night. I was really thrilled with the passion that was in the room, and the abundance of ideas and feedback. I know our board felt a sense of excitement that we met so many people who care about the direction of our chapter and heard many ideas for networking, programming and education.

A personal plea: Don't let that passion die! AIGA is a volunteer organization, powered by members. I urge everyone who made the scene and raised a hand last night to get involved. We are here to channel the wants and needs of the membership, but we need help in doing so. And I can assure you that any time and energy you put in will come back to you tenfold.

Thanks again for your insights and enthusiasm.
