Would have loved to go to this one. There are 3 great events happening on the same day: Business Matters, No Go Logo Show, and this one. Why are they all at the same day? It's really ashamed, because I would have go to each one of them; such great speakers not to be missed.
yes this is open to all!
Whoever is posting the information for these events should really present the basic information we need to make decisions on attending. For example, I don't see any info on who may attend this event, if there is an admission fee or how long the presentation will be.
Who can attend: All who are interested
Fee: Free to all who attend
Time: 7pm to approx. 830p no later than 9p
Looking forward to seeing you all tonight!
Thank you Deborah for the wonderful, inspiring presentation you gave. I loved it!

Great presentation, very informative! It's always great to see great designs.
It was worth the drive in the rain. I wish we would've had a little more time for questions though. Usually I would want to hurry up and leave, but I was that much interested. Great Designer!
It was so inspiring to see all the values that i really love, come together to form such an outstanding package. Teamwork, Multigenerational unity, Environmental Ingenuity, Creative Freedom... I appreciate Deborah's expertise, experience, attitude, creativity, and design honesty. Fantastic!

Great Designer, Great Speaker, Inspiring Presentation.
Deborah Sussman was an inspiration to me and my carrier. Seeing her and here work defiantly makes me feel that what I put into my work is what I will get out of it.
The following is one of my students response to the Deborah Sussman lecture and presentation that I'd like to post by Zach Piepmeyer from Cal Poly Art department; Type 1, Winter 08.
-----------------------------------------------
It was so inspiring to see all the values that i really love come together to form such an outstanding package. Teamwork, multigenerational unity, environmental ingenuity, and creative freedom were prevalent streams of focus that allowed for even greater production and aspiration. I admired her ability to also communicate all the areas, as well as others, in such an expressive and relaxed context. She was deliberate in what she wanted to communicate, yet was enjoyable in her presentation--as if it was just Deborah and me having coffee. This is definitely an earmark for the era, and I believe she is an pervading influence of the new era we have entered as an art community.
I especially enjoyed seeing the beginning slides regarding the team under Deborah Sussman. It was fantastic to see and hear her describe the processes the team must go through from beginning to end, concept to product. She was detailed in some aspects of the teamwork, however I appreciated the she consistently, without fail, used the term "we" instead of "I". Of course any good team member knows this basic reference when speaking to any client. However, Deborah is a leading designer, highly recognized. If anyone is deserving of the spotlight and recognition, it would be Deborah Sussman. Yet, she still chooses to remain a part of the team, simply fulfilling her role as the leader and spokeswoman, but never stepping outside of the humility of the team. I really respect this aspect of her character, which is undeniably an undertone to her fantastic portfolio and career advancement. Sussman demonstrates the impactful quality of teamwork.
Another respectable aspect of Sussman's presentation was the multigenerational unity that occurs throughout the team. This is definitely a component of the team, however, it is so rare, misunderstood, and miscommunicated today, that I thought it was a very worthy topic to discuss. This is a highly studied area within every place where humans must interact, including businesses, churches, families, and interest groups. There exists such a prevalent generational gap due to technological and cultural shifts that occur at unthinkable speeds. Globalization has impacted paradigms that have taken many years to develop. The fast food industry and culture that affects America creates a divide that causes miscommunication, misunderstanding, and ultimately uncompliance. However, within the Sussman team, there were pictures of men and women of the boomer generation, generation-X, and even the millenial generation. She is so ahead of her time. She has successfully united what is thought by many to be impossible. And Sussman has also successfully demonstrated to us the power that resides within the generations when in unity under a common team.
Deborah Sussman also gave an incredible picture of the environmental ingenuity of her designs and concepts. She is so diverse in the areas of design that she utilizes and wanders through. From graphic design to architecture, 2-D to 3-D, the Sussman/Prejza team has pushed the envelope in concept, production and creation. I absolutely love the idea of environment and how a design interacts with it. The relationship of a design and its environment is inseparable. However, Deborah has successfully integrated this concept throughout all of her ingenuities. This is seen within the Universal City Walk movie theatre and the concept of popcorn that perfectly exemplifies the relationship that Americans associate with movie entertainment. As well, the city of LA is known for its sunsets and freeways. The visual effect of the freeways was then used for the carpet designs. I would never have even though of using such a detailed yet simple concept and execution. Deborah's portfolio is overflowing with such projects.
Finally, I appreciated Sussman's creative freedom. This is an extremely intrical aspect of any design firm, or artistic personality. It is obvious from her presentation that the work environment allows for full creative freedom to flourish. It is also obviously seen in the Santa Monica city logo they designed, even with the barriers of external ideas and philosophies. I thought it was awesome that Deborah has such influence and favor backed by years of qualified experience, that she could push through boards of directors and other obstacles that try to restrict and collapse the artistic expression necessary for creative designs. I also saw that the team helped design Bank One Ballpark, which is the Arizona Diamondbacks' stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. I am from Arizona, and have loved going to the baseball games there for many years! And I absolutely love that stadium. The design elements have always caught my eye. This woman is absolutely out of this world.
I appreciated Deborah’s expertise, experience, attitude, creativity, and design honesty. What a fantastic presentation and woman!
Thank you Professor Broukhim!
Have a great day.
