Managing your Client, Managing You with Sasha Strauss

In a world where "expertise? is just an internet search away, it's inevitable that clients think they know everything about everything. The result: too much guidance, no perspective and rounds of revisions that send us all to the nut house.

In this dynamic presentation, we'll discuss contemporary protocols of brand strategy, practices for managing client expectation and results that focus your customer on the strategic needs - not their personal preferences.

In line with AIGA/LA's vocation to bring added-value to membership, this season's BusinessMatters will be offered free to members on a first come, first serve basis. Join us and participate in this popular series designed to help you establish yourself and your career.

BusinessMatters Series Overview
Increasing access to creative software has convinced many that graphic design is basic administrative work and innovative talent isn't necessary to devise creative business solutions. This sentiment, coupled by budget-conscious clients and a sluggish economy, has made it imperative for designers to affirm their roles as valuable members of a company's marketing process.

BusinessMatters is designed to address these issues, using an intimate and open forum for discussion. Emphasis will be on developing new business, career management, enhancing strong rapport with clients and educating clients about the value of design.

In the first three presentations of the series, the central theme will be business development: the logistics of setting up a business, finessing a business plan and generating new business.

I'm really interested in attending this event, but why don't you tell us where it's going to be? I'm going to attend if I have to drive too far and as a non-member, I'm not going to prepay for this if you don't tell me where it is. Just give us a hint! West LA? Hollywood? Pasadena? Anything?

Sasha Strauss put on a high-energy, fast-paced presentation. Loved it!

My first AIGA event. Really enjoyed it. Great presentation, and got to meet/ hear the experiences of some good people in the audience.

Thank you.

Very informative, energetic and generous speaker. Thank you AIGA for making an event of this calliber free to us members. I truly felt as if I have membership priveleges. The venue also elevated the event and made it feel special – very nice. Thank you.

I have to say that this is an impressive venue with great service. I mean food delivered to your seat? An intimate event in which real discussion can take place? Those who passed this one up should be kicking themselves.

Great event. Sasha did a wonderful job. I brought several designers and account executives from my team and all felt the evening was well worth the time. We employ a lot of the same techniques used by Sasha's firm and it was a pleasure to hear the rich dialog afterward. And, the location was great...we travel from the Valley and it was much more convenient than previous locations. Great job!

I really enjoyed this event. I am already a member of AIGA but if I wasn't I would have joined. I recently joined the LA Chapter and I am very impressed so far. I enjoyed the entire presentation from the food, to the gift bags to the dynamic speaker. I took a lot of notes. I also enjoyed the discussion at the end of the presentation. I am looking forward to future events. You guys did a great job and I have no complaints.

Great event. Great speaker. This is exactly the type of programming I was hoping for from the AIGA — informative, inspiring and relevant. Our office is located in the OC and this event was well worth the drive. The food quality and presentation was an added bonus. Looking forward to the next 2 in the series.
