You've heard it on the news and seen it online. Green business is big. The days of being either profitable or sustainable are gone. Call that Green business 1.0. We're now coming around to the fact that adoption of sustainable practices actually increases profitability when implented with a solid plan, and most importantly, actually allows companies to make a positive impact on our society and planet.
AIGA/LA has partnered with Opportunity Green together with UCLA’s The Anderson School of Management, Price Center for Entrepreneurship Studies and the Institute of the Environment to bring our members and community into the energetic dialogue around building profitable, socially conscious and sustainable enterprises.
The first conference in the series kicks off the conversation and continues into 2008 with Green Leader Salons, a Spring Conference, a Fall Conference and more.
Speakers who will draw on their life’s experiences and expertise they have gained to motivate, educate and challenge attendees include:
- Keynote Speaker, Kevin Wall, the Founder of Live Earth
- Gunther Lie, Director of Interactive Marketing, Method Products
- Jonathan Greenblatt, Founder of Ethos Water and Board member of the X-Prize Foundation
- Chip Conley, CEO Joie De Vivre Hospitality
- Josh Dorfman, author/producer/host of ‘The Lazy Environmentalist’
- TreeHugger.com’s Founder Graham Hill
- Jamais Cascio, founder of WorldChanging.com
- Pangea Organic’s founder/CEO Joshua Onysko
- Dave Muyers, VP of Educational Initiatives, Art Center College of Design
- Geoff Wardle, Associate Chair Transportation Department, Art Center College of Design
- Tim Lindholm, Director of Capital Projects, Metro
- Karel J. Samson, PhD, Professor of Entepreneurship Universiteit Nyenrode
- Tom Feegel, Principal of Brand Neutral and former Chief of Staff Live Earth
- Jose Caballer, Co-founder and CEO of The Groop (who along with his design team, Tom Feegel and AIGA/LA’s own Amelie Bonet, will be launching the hot new Opportunity Green identity at the conference)
AIG/LA will be addressing issues pertaining to Sustainable Design at the first Conference. Stay tuned for information on future events, such as the Green Leader Salons featuring some of our green AIGA/LA members.
