Its not just a film screening... its an event.
Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which will celebrate its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives.
AIGA San Diego will hold a reception with appetizers from Hash House A Go Go, beverages from the Tractor Room and live jazz by Chris Prescott of Pinback and friends. The reception will take place prior to the screening at St. James Hall (743 Prospect Street, La Jolla) Following the reception, attendees will walk across the street to the Sherwood Auditorium, located on the museum grounds, to watch the film. Concluding the screening will be a question-and-answer session with the film's director, Gary Hustwit.
