THURSDAY, MARCH 15, 2007 | 7 TO 10PM | PDC

Since 1975, the partners of Pentagram have published short impeccably-designed books about “curious, entertaining, stimulating, provocative and occasionally controversial points of view that have come to the attention of, or in some cases are actually originated by, Pentagram.? The books, known as Pentagram Papers, are printed in extremely short run, and given for free to Pentagram’s clients and friends. Due to their rarity, the Papers have become highly collectible; they are hoarded by used book dealers and only a few designers are said to have a complete set. The Pentagram Papers was recently published by Chronicle Books, bringing together images and descriptions of all 35 Papers for the first time in history—and #36 is included with the book itself.

Join Pentagram partner Kit Hinrichs, designer of The Pentagram Papers, as he discusses the unique history and origin of the Papers, the urban legends which swirl around this institution, and the importance of the Papers to Pentagram’s many designers. Hinrichs will also discuss the publication process and give tips for book designers on how to get published themselves.

Read more about the Papers at Pentagram's blog, in Metropolis, at Very Short List, and in STEP.

I have a few of these curious books from years ago. Kit’s upcoming lecture got me to take a fresh look at them and be reminded how Pentagram really knows how to have fun!

Kit mentioned @Issue at the presentation last night. Does anyone know how to subscribe to that magazine? I used to receive this valuable publication at my old job and would love to begin receiving it again.

With a little more searching on the web, I found it. For anyone else that's interested, here's the link to subscribe to @Issue Magazine...
