Kurt Andersen is a man who wears many hats. He wrote the best-selling novel
Turn of the Century, which The New York Times named one of the Notable Books
of the year, and, most recently, Heydey, which brings 19th-century America to
life. Mr. Andersen is also the host and co-creator of the Peabody
Award-winning radio show, Studio 360, a cultural magazine show that is aired
on 140 stations throughout the country. As a journalist, Mr. Andersen writes a
column, called “The Imperial City,� for New York magazine, which he served as
editor-in-chief, and was a previous columnist for The New Yorker and Time. He
also was the editor and co-founder of Spy and Inside magazines, among others.
Mr. Andersen has also written for film, television and theater. A member of
the board of trustees of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Mr.
Anderson curated an exhibit there in 2004, called “Faster, Cheaper, Newer,
More: Revolutions of 1848.� Graduating magna cum laude from Harvard College,
he also holds an honorary doctorate from the Rhode Island School of Design.
