About AIGA LA

Founded in 1983 by design legends Deborah Sussman, Saul Bass, Jim Cross, and others, the Los Angeles chapter continues to connect LA’s varied creative industries through extensive programming, events, communication and social outreach. AIGA LA is recognized as a civic leader for its celebration of local design, partnerships with cultural and media organizations, exceptional support of educational institutions, and a dedication to nurturing the diversity and independent spirit unique to the Los Angeles creative community.

AIGA, the professional association for design, is committed to furthering excellence in design as a broadly-defined discipline, strategic tool for business and cultural force. AIGA is the place design professionals turn to first to exchange ideas and information, participate in critical analysis and research and advance education and ethical practice.


New Leadership + New Opportunities

Brittney Backos is your Programming Chair. Whether you’re interested in producing events, or assisting on-site, getting involved in Programming is a great way for you expand your skill set, as well as your network. Opportunities are available at every experience and commitment level. And if you have event ideas, we want to hear them! We can help make them happen by supporting you, empowering you and connecting you with what you need to see it through.

Jayme Rosenstock is our new Volunteer Coordinator for the Chapter. She will likely be the first person you hear from, when you reach out to us, to get involved. Her role is to keep track of all opportunities, and to help people find the most mutually-rewarding and productive fit between you the opportunities available throughout every aspect of the Chapter.

Kristin Kiefer is your Chair of Communications. She coordinates all the efforts of copywriting, reporting, web postings, social media and public relations for the Chapter. You can bet that she has lots of opportunities for you to lead, or assist in communications.

Tamera Lawrence will be leading the Membership Committee efforts. If you’ve not met Tamera before, you will probably meet her soon. Her positive energy, and disciplined approach will certainly endear her to you.

Fellow Award

The Fellow Award is a national AIGA initiative founded in 1999. The program is a means of recognizing mature designers who have made a significant contribution to raising the standards of excellence in practice and conduct within their local or regional design community as well as in their local AIGA chapter. The areas of education, writing, leadership and reputation, as well as the practice of design are given equal consideration in measuring significant contribution.
